Community Guidelines

Last updated 28 September 2026

Jubal is where Nigerian creatives show their work, get booked and get paid.

These rules keep Jubal safe and fair. They apply to everyone: creators, clients and fans. They apply to Sparks, comments, messages, profiles, offers, gigs, Shouts, reviews and anything else you share here.

If you break these rules, we may remove your content or limit your account. Serious harm can mean losing your account straight away. You can always ask us to look again (see How appeals work).

In an emergency, contact local emergency services first. Jubal cannot send help to you.

1. Keep people safe

  • Do not threaten anyone. Do not tell people to hurt someone.
  • Do not share someone's private details without their permission. This includes their home address, phone number, bank details or ID.
  • Do not stalk anyone or keep contacting someone who has asked you to stop.
  • Do not try to meet someone in a way that puts them in danger.

For in-person bookings: agree the place and time in the Jubal chat. Tell a friend where you are going. If something feels wrong, leave and report it to us.

2. Jubal is for adults (18+)

  • You must be 18 or older to have a Jubal account.
  • We may ask you to prove your age. When you verify your identity, we check your date of birth.
  • If we believe someone is under 18, we will close the account.
  • If your content shows a child (for example, at a family event you performed at), you must have permission from the child's parent or guardian. Never show a child in a sexual, dangerous or humiliating way. Never share a child's full name, school or address.

3. No nudity or sexual content

  • No nude or sexual images, videos or audio. This includes content that is "almost nude" and meant to be sexual.
  • No sexual services. Do not offer, ask for or advertise sex, "hookups", escorting or adult video chats. This applies to offers, gigs, Shouts, messages and profiles.
  • Never share intimate images of someone without their permission. Tell us straight away if this happens to you. We aim to remove it within 48 hours of your report, and faster when we can.
  • Never ask anyone for intimate images. Do not threaten to share someone's images to get money or anything else. This is sextortion, and we will remove your account and may report you.
  • Any sexual content involving a child is banned. We remove it, keep the evidence as the law allows, remove the account and report it to the right authorities. There are no warnings for this.

Performance clothing, dance and fashion are welcome. Keep them non-sexual.

4. No harassment, bullying or hate

  • Do not insult, mock or shame people.
  • Do not organise others to attack someone ("pile-ons").
  • No hate. Do not attack people because of their ethnic group or tribe, religion, nationality, disability, sex, or illness. This includes insults, slurs and jokes that treat a group as less than human. It also includes calling for violence or exclusion against, for example, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Ijaw, Tiv or any other people, or against Christians, Muslims or followers of traditional religions.
  • You can disagree, give honest feedback and review work. Criticise the work, not the person.

5. No violence, self-harm or dangerous acts

  • Do not share real violence to shock people or to celebrate it.
  • Do not support or promote terrorism, kidnapping, "cult" violence or armed gangs.
  • Do not share content that encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
  • Do not post dangerous stunts or challenges that could get someone badly hurt.
  • If someone may be in danger right now, report it. We treat it as our most urgent kind of report. If you are struggling, please talk to someone you trust. The Safety Centre lists support contacts. (Reviewer note: helpline numbers must be verified with each organisation before publication; none are listed here because none were verified in research.)

6. No scams. Always pay and get paid on Jubal

This is the most important rule for hiring on Jubal.

  • Pay only through Jubal. Money paid through Jubal is held safely by our licensed payment partner until the work is approved. Money paid outside Jubal is not protected, and we cannot get it back for you.
  • Never pay a deposit into someone's personal account, even if they offer a discount.
  • Screenshots and bank alerts are not proof of payment. Only the order status in Jubal shows that a booking is paid. Do not start work, travel or send files until the order says Funded.
  • You never have to pay to get work on Jubal. Anyone asking for a "registration fee", "audition fee", "visa fee" or "processing fee" before giving you a gig is probably a scammer. Report them.
  • Jubal staff will never ask for your code (OTP), PIN or password. Not by phone, WhatsApp, SMS or email.
  • Do not ask people to move a deal to WhatsApp, Instagram or bank transfer to avoid Jubal fees. This is called fee circumvention, and it breaks our rules.
  • Do not sell fake products, fake investments, loans, "double your money" schemes or anything illegal.

7. Be who you say you are

  • Do not pretend to be another person, artiste, brand, manager or Jubal staff.
  • Do not use someone else's photos, name or work as your own.
  • Parody and fan accounts must say clearly in the name and bio that they are not the real person.
  • Do not buy, sell or share accounts.
  • Tell the truth about your skills, experience and past work.

8. Don't spread harmful false information about elections and public life

  • Do not share false information about how, when or where to vote, or about who can vote.
  • Do not share fake results, fake official announcements or edited videos made to mislead people about public events.
  • Do not share false information that could cause panic or violence.
  • You can share opinions and satire. Label satire and AI-edited media clearly.

9. Respect creative work, music and copyright

  • Only post work you made or have permission to use.
  • Music: at launch, use only your own music or sounds from the Jubal sound library. Do not add commercial songs you don't have rights to, even for a few seconds.
  • When you upload, you will be asked who owns the audio. Answer honestly.
  • If someone reports your content for copyright, we will tell you and explain how to reply. If you break copyright rules again and again, we will warn you and then suspend your account for at least one month.
  • Credit the people you worked with. Only add someone as a credit if they agree.

10. No spam or fake engagement

  • Do not buy or sell followers, likes, views, comments or reviews.
  • Do not use bots, fake accounts or "follow-for-follow" groups to boost your numbers.
  • Do not post the same thing again and again, or send the same message to lots of people.
  • Do not post links to harmful or misleading websites.

11. Be fair in the marketplace

Creators:

  • Show up on time, as agreed. If you can't make it, tell the client in the Jubal chat as early as possible and use the cancellation option.
  • Deliver what you promised in the agreement.
  • Do not take two bookings for the same time.

Clients:

  • Describe the job honestly.
  • Do not ask for extra work that is not in the agreement without agreeing a new price.
  • Review delivered work on time. If you do nothing, the work may be approved automatically after the review period shown on your order.

Everyone:

  • Reviews must be honest and about a real booking. Do not write reviews for friends, do not pay for reviews, and do not threaten a bad review to get something extra.
  • Do not open false disputes.
  • Booked on Jubal badges can only come from real, paid and approved Jubal orders. Do not fake them.

12. Follow the law

Do not use Jubal to do anything illegal in Nigeria or where you live. This includes fraud, money laundering, selling drugs or weapons, and human trafficking.

How we enforce these rules

What we can do

Step What happens Example
Remove content We take down the Spark, comment, message or offer A comment with a slur
Warning We tell you what rule you broke. No other limits First small spam problem
Reduced reach Your content is not shown in For You or Discover for a time. We always tell you Repeated low-quality spam
Feature limits You can't comment, message new people, post, or take new orders for a set time Harassment in comments
Temporary suspension You can't use your account for a set time. Money for work already approved is still yours Repeated scams in chat
Removal We close your account. You may not open a new one Sextortion, child sexual abuse material, serious fraud

When your account is limited or suspended, we still complete open orders fairly. Funds in protected payment go to the right person after we review the order.

The strike system

  • When you break a rule, you usually get a strike.
  • Strikes last 90 days. Serious strikes last 180 days.
Strikes in 90 days What happens
1 Warning, and the content is removed
2 Feature limits for 7 days
3 Suspension for 7 days, and you can't take new orders for 30 days
4 Account removal

No strikes, straight to removal, for:

  • sexual content involving a child
  • sextortion or sharing intimate images without consent
  • credible threats to kill or seriously hurt someone
  • terrorism or violent group support
  • selling sexual services, people trafficking
  • serious fraud, account takeover or money laundering

Copyright has its own steps (required by the Copyright Act 2022, s.56): a warning, then suspension for at least one month if it keeps happening.

We will always tell you

When we act, you get a notice in the app. It tells you:

  • what we did
  • which rule it was about
  • what content it was about (unless showing it would cause harm)
  • how long it lasts
  • how to appeal

How appeals work

  1. Tap Appeal on the notice. You have 30 days.
  2. Tell us why you think we got it wrong. You can add files.
  3. A different person from the one who made the first decision reviews it.
  4. We aim to answer within 3 business days. For appeals about suspended accounts or held money, we aim to answer within 1 business day. These are targets, not promises.
  5. If we got it wrong, we restore your content or account and remove the strike.

You can also appeal copyright removals with a counter-notice (see the Copyright and Music Policy).

How to report

  • Tap ⋯ then Report on any Spark, comment, profile, message, order or review.
  • Choose a reason. Add details if you can.
  • Your report is private. The person you report is not told who reported them.
  • If someone is in danger right now, choose "Someone may be in danger".
  • You can also block anyone. They won't be able to see your content, message you or send you offers.

False reports. Reporting people again and again to harass them is itself against the rules.
